Low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines has announced a number of changes in its executive leadership, effective from 1 December 2023, to provide what it describes as ‘additional focus and clarity’ in supporting the company’s ‘strategic priorities’.
Justin Jones will become executive vice president of operations, leading the team coordinating ‘modernization and oversight of the daily operation of the airlines’. Tony Roach will advance to senior vice president and chief customer officer, overseeing the end-to-end customer experience, and Jason Van Eaton will take the role of senior vice president and chief corporate affairs officer.
Additionally, Elizabeth Bryant will become senior vice president and chief people officer, Whitney Eichinger will take responsibility as senior vice president and chief communication officer, and Angela Marano will assume the role of vice president artificial intelligence and data transformation; leading a new organisation ‘defining an infrastructure and governance to harness the power of data and artificial intelligence’.
“These changes solidify Southwest’s executive leadership team as we work to achieve our objectives for 2024 and beyond,” commented Bob Jordan, president and CEO; adding that the company is “collectively creating an organisational structure… elevating the experience of traveling, and bolstering our foundational reliability and financial performance”.
