Passenger demand saw continued momentum in October 2024, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Total passenger demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), was up 7.1% in October 2024, compared to the same month a year prior. In addition, total capacity - measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) was up 6.1%. October load factor was up 0.8 percentage point to 83.9%.
“Continued strong and stable demand is good news, but just as important is the steady improvement in load factors,” said IATA director general Willie Walsh.
International demand was up 9.5% compared to October last year, while capacity was up 8.6%. International load factor was up 0.6 percentage point to 83.5%.
Domestic demand rose 3.5% and capacity was up 2%. Domestic load factor was up 1.2 percentage point to 84.5%.
