SMBC Aviation Capital latest senior unsecured bond offering closes oversubscribed

SMBC Aviation Capital's latest $750 million ten-year senior unsecured 5.25% notes offering has closed five times oversubscribed.

The notes priced at US Treasuries plus 115 basis points. It is the company’s eleventh successful bond issuance following its debut capital markets issuance in July 2016.

SMBC Aviation Capital said its bond programme is an important part of the company’s capital structure, providing access to debt at different points of the tenor curve.

The company added that the success of SMBC Aviation Capital’s latest bond offering, and the level of oversubscription, “underscores the strong investor appetite for exposure to the business and further strengthens the company’s financial position”.

Aisling Kenny, chief financial officer of SMBC Aviation Capital, said: “Our latest bond issuance attracted significant investor interest, demonstrating SMBC Aviation Capital’s sustained financial strength and the attractiveness of our offering.

"The ability to secure funding on competitive terms enhances our capital structure, and combined with the continued strong support from our shareholders, positions us to deliver on our ambitious growth objectives.”
