SkyWest exits 29 airports

SkyWest has given a 90-day notice to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) that it is exiting 29 airports, which are all part of the federal Essential Air Service program. The airline has cited a lack of pilots for the move. The routes were all flown on behalf of United Airlines. The DOT has, however, prevented the airline from cancelling the Essential Air Service routes before a replacement can be found. The DOT has issued a request for proposals from other operators for these routes by April 11.
