Skanska wins $113 million fuel transmission system contract
Construction and development firm Skanska has won a $113 million contract by LGAFUEL to carry out the construction for New York-based LaGuardia Airport's fuel transmission systems. The construction will allow for the improvement of the airport's fuel network by streamlining the process to transfer fuel between parked aircraft. Skanska will construct two parallel jet fuel transmission lines at 11,000ft long, electrical and communication duct banks, belowground isolation valve vaults and cathodic protection systems. The contract includes the modification of some of LaGuardia's exiting systems to support the operations and maintenance of the hydrant fuelling system. ""As LaGuardia continues to undergo revolutionary advancements,"" said Skanska USA Civil's northeast region general manager and senior vice president, ""we're grateful to continue playing an integral role in creating a more seamless experience for passengers and boosting efficiency at the operational level."" Construction is expected to be complete by May 2026.
