Sirius Aviation has created the first ever hydrogen-powered VTOL (vertical take off and landing) aircraft, the Sirius Jet, which was designed in collaboration with BMW’s Designworks and Sauber Group.
Sirius Aviation will host an unveiling event for the aircraft and its novel hydrogen-electric ducted fan propulsion system on January 17 at Payerne Airport, Switzerland.
The Sirius Jet uses a hydrogen-electric propulsion system and a 'proprietary advanced two-phase thermal management system'. Sirius Aviation has two models available: the first, the Sirius Millennium Jet, is crafted for commercial purposes and can accommodate up to five passengers. For tailored private jet requirements, the company offers the Sirius Business Jet version of its new aircraft, which can accommodate up to three passengers.
Both versions of the Sirius Jet are set to take flight in 2025.
