Singapore Changi Airport has extended its partnership with Smiths Detection for advanced hand luggage and explosives detection systems.
The airport will install 20 Smiths Detection HI-SCAN 10080 XCT automatic explosives detection systems (EDS) for the Terminal 2 Baggage Handling System redevelopment.
From the start of August, 20 HI-SCAN 10080 XCT units will be installed in Terminal 2 will completed slated for four years’ time.
Smiths Detection will also provide on-site maintenance, including hardware and software support.
Smiths Detection Asia managing director John Tan said, “Before the aviation sector was disrupted by Covid-19, Changi Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world requiring high volumes of baggage screening, and our next-generation technology helps support this implementation.
“We are confident that this partnership with Changi Airport Group will lead the way in driving higher standards for future adoption.”
The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT has received Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) 3.1 certifications.
