Singapore Airline Group carried about 2.61 million passengers in January 2023 compared to 535,200 in 2022. The Group released its operational statistics for January 2023 in which all the operating metrics are ahead of January 2022.
"The Singapore Airlines Group continued to see strong passenger traffic and load factors across all route regions, including East Asia. The robust demand for air travel was boosted by the year-end peak return traffic and the Lunar New Year holiday season,” the Group said in its release.
However, in spite of the robust demand and holiday traffic, the passenger numbers fell by 2.7% as compared to December 2022. Passenger load factors also declined in January 2023 falling from 89.7% in December to 86.9% in January.
The group reported the capacity to be relatively constant, around 80% of pre-pandemic levels.
Singapore Airlines carried 1.689 million passengers in January 2023, a 4.5% fall from December 2022 and Scoot carried 926,800 compared to 920,300 in December 2022.
At the end of January 2023, the Group's passenger network covered 112 destinations in 36 countries and territories. During January, Singapore Airlines resumed services to Guangzhou in China and Scoot resumed its Balikpapan, Indonesia route, bringing Singapore Airlines' destinations to 77 and Scoot to 58.
