SIAEC signs MoU with seven Institutes to develop future ready workforce

Skilled labour is a major concern across the global aviation sector. Addressing the issue first hand, SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC) has signed an MoU with seven Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL)s. These institutes are Institute of Technical Education, Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, and Singapore Institute of Technology.  Minister for Education.

The agreement will focus on commitment to establish diverse pipelines of skilled professionals, provide lifelong learning opportunities for its workforce and promote bilateral knowledge exchange between industry and academia.

Foo Kean Shuh, Executive Vice President Operations and Chief Sustainability Officer of SIAEC, said: “This MOU underpins our commitment to nurture and provide good career opportunities for our students and support the continuous upskilling and reskilling of our workforce to ensure they can meet existing and future business demands. We are confident that the collaborations with the IHLs arising from this MOU will enable us to develop a future ready workforce and enable SIAEC to continue to capture growth opportunities going forward.”

SIAEC will help to curate training curriculum for industry-relevant skills, provide structured internships and industry attachments, increase employment placement offers, as well as participate in interdisciplinary projects and research with IHL students and academic staff.

New initiatives under this MOU with the IHLs will focus on attracting talents from diverse disciplines integral to the future development of the aerospace industry.
