Singapore Airlines plans to invest $20 million to upgrade its "SilverKris" airport lounges in a bid to remain competitive in the face of fierce rivalry from Asian and Middle Eastern carriers. The upgrade, which will be carried out over five years, will be fitted out with a new design concept to be premiered at Sydney airport.
"We hope to replicate that 'home away from home' experience in our lounges, along with the warm Asian hospitality that Singapore Airlines is renowned for."
SIA senior vice president for products and services Tan Pee Teck said.

New regional airlines are popping up around India to bridge the gap created by the reduction of Kingfisher Airlines services.
Air Pegasus and Air Costa have both received approval from the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation. They will interconnect tier II cities and connect tier II cities with the nearest metro city.
