SIA Group inching closer to pre-COVID 19 passenger mark

Singapore Airlines Group (SIA) has shown a robust recovery reaching almost 75% of pre-COVID levels. The airlines, Singapore Airlines and Scoot, have also doubled their capacity as compared to November 2021.

The SIA Group carried 2.406 million passengers in the first 10 months of 2022 as compared to 302,300 passengers in 2021 showing an exponential increase of 696.2%.

Singapore Airlines Group, with November passenger capacity reaching 75% of pre-COVID-19 levels. The group, which includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, almost doubled the capacity available in November 2021 (year-on-year).

In November 2022, Singapore Airlines carried 1.616 million passengers, reporting a steady monthly growth of 5% compared to October 2022. Interestingly the passenger numbers picked up in the East Asian regions as the pandemic norms relaxed in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan. Another contributing factor was the passenger flow from Australia which SIA continued to serve throughout the pandemic.

In November 2022, Scoot carried 790,500 as compared to 729,000 in October 2022, showing an increase of 8.3%. With the easing of restrictions in China and rest of Asia, SIA group hopes to cross pre-COVID passenger levels towards the start of next year.
