Sharjah Airport achieves highest performance in 2023

Sharjah Airport has achieved its highest performance with more than 15.3 million passengers in 2023. This marks a 17.4% growth from 2022 where it achieved 13.1 million passengers.

Sharjah Airport Authority director Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi said: “we confirm our ongoing efforts to elevate the reputation of the airport on a global level, especially in light of our active participation in international forums, robust partnerships and collaboration to build the business ecosystem and diversify the options for customers”.

Flights increased from 87,000 in 2022 to 98,000 flight movements in 2023, marking a 12.5% increase. Furthermore, over 141,000 tonnes of cargo was handled through the airport throughout the year.

“We will continue our expansion and development efforts in line with our aim to enhance the infrastructure and services provided, especially in the realm of self-travel to meet the expectations of the airline community, keeping our focus on offering distinctive travel experience for all passengers while expanding the airport’s network and connectivity," Sharjah Airport Authority chairman Ali Salim Al Midfa said.

The airport had added seven new destinations for passengers and three new destinations for air cargo in the year.
