Shaheen Air owners flee the country

The owners of Shaheen Air International are reported by news service, Dawn, to have fled Pakistan despite a request by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to the interior ministry to place their names on the Exit Control List (ECL). The airline’s operations had been suspended since October for non payment of salaries for its 2,800 employee that amount to Rs1.36 billion.

The owners are said to have left the country to raise funds to clear its liabilities with the CAA and have the eight aircraft currently interred by the authority returned to the airline. However, reports state that the aircraft in question are in a poor state of repair and are being parked at a cost to the airline by the CAA.
