Less than a week after reporting what it said was a difficult 2022, Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam said it recorded around 3.9 million passengers in January 2023.
The number was a 57% increase on the same month in 2022 and a 348% jump on 2021, when travel was effectively banned due to pandemic-related rules.
The number of flights to and from the airport, which ranks as one of Europe's busiest, was 29,978, a 14% increase on 2022 and a 104% jump compared to 2021.
Both passenger and flight traffic remained below pre-pandemic numbers for 2020 and 2019, the airport said in a statement.
