Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved aircraft manufacturer ATR's near-term emissions reduction targets, after the independent assessment. ATR is aiming to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions related to operational processes and energy consumption by 50.4% by 2030. These targets were designed to be in line with the 1.5°C trajectory outlined in the Paris Agreement, which came into force November, 2016.
ATR is also committed to reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions generated by 30% with its in-service aircraft fleet by 2030.
"Receiving SBTi’s approval for our emissions reduction targets is a strong testimony to the validity of the goals we have set for our company and products," said ATR CEO Nathalie Tarnaud Laude.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a programme that encourages and assists companies in setting science based targets (SBTs) for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. SBTi is a collaborative effort between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the Worldwide Fund for Nature.
