Scandinavian carrier SAS said its passenger numbers for the fourth quarter of 2022 (Q4 2022) were the highest of any three-month period since 2019.
Total revenue for the period was up 85% annually, SAS reported, with passenger numbers up 13% on Q3 2022 and 59% on Q4 2021.
SAS said it hoped to make a late-2023 exit from its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the US and related financial restructuring efforts, after recently announcing deals with Air Lease Corporation and Jackson Square Aviation over 13 aircraft related to the proceedings.
"Over the past months, we have struck agreements with aircraft lessors regarding concessions and various cost-savings initiatives in line with our
objectives," said chief executive and president Anko van der Werff.
But the carrier said it needed to further reduce spending to make the restructuring work. "Cost reductions across the business remain in focus to secure our cost competitiveness," it said
