SAS launching biofuel option for fares

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has announced it is launching what it says are "two ticket types that include biofuel" to be available on domestic and European flights.

The carrier aims to be using fossil-free aviation fuel to the equivalent of all its domestic flights by 2030, saying it "makes no profit" from the sales

"Travellers buying Go Smart or Plus Pro tickets will be able to purchase these tickets with approximately 50%* of biofuel included to lower the CO₂ emission of their SAS flight," the carrier said in a statement.

"We know it is important for our customers, both leisure and corporate, to actively take part in these efforts and SAS Bio will fill this demand", says Ann-Sofie Hörlin, head of sustainability.
