The Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske has asked for Parliament’s permission to sell Scandinavian airline SAS. He says the airline could benefit from a commercial owner.
“SAS continues to face a number of challenges which they are likely to best meet with an industrial partner as owners,” says an ownership report.
Giske says the terms of a potential transaction are to be discussed with Swedish and Danish representatives, Norway’s partners in SAS, with all three governments jointly owning 50%.
Any sale would have to include long-term investment plans and commitments to maintaining services to Norway and protect Norwegian jobs.
