Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has said that a pilot strike had a negative impact on its May 2019 traffic figures as it affected nearly 100 000 customers.
The airline's available seat per kilometre stood at 4.047 million, down 6.6% from the same period in 2018. Its revenue per kilometre came in at 2.887 million, down 10% compared with last year - this is said to be due to 1,200 flights that were cancelled due to the pilot strike in the first two days of May.
SAS posted its passenger load factor was 71.3%, down 2.7 percentage points in May 2018.
"We are now looking forward to our summer season, in which we have added 25 new routes and five new destinations - Florence, Marseille, Szczecin, Cornwall and Oulu," said Rickard Gustafson, CEO of SAS.
