Air France-KLM and SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) have agreed to “significantly expand” their existing commercial partnership in an effort to improve connectivity between the US and Scandinavia.
Under the terms of the agreement, Air France will add its code to SAS-operated non-stop transatlantic flights.
The new codeshare agreement will provide customers with greater access to a range of destinations across the US via key Scandinavian hubs, namely Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.
Both airlines said the agreement builds on the success of their existing commercial partnership, which was launched in 2024.
Earlier this year, SAS added its code on several long-haul international flights operated by Air France and KLM on departure from their respective hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol airports.
In 2024, both airlines also entered into reciprocal codeshares agreements across their European networks.
Yesterday, as covered by Airline Economics, SAS announced its largest route expansion to date, as part of a “strategic leap” that will take place in summer 2026.
As of this week, SAS has added nine new routes and six new destinations, including a daily service from Copenhagen to Istanbul and a five times weekly service from Copenhagen to Mumbai.
The new routes will commence in March and in June 2026.
SAS said the new routes will increase seat capacity out of Copenhagen, its largest hub, by 20%, thus creating 50% more connecting opportunities.
