Saab and Altitude Angel in air traffic management tech deal

UK-based Altitude Angel and Saab announced a deal on December 6 that will see the Swedish car and jet manufacturer put Altitude Angel's "market leading" unified traffic management (UTM) technology into its r-TWR digital towers for air traffic control.

The r-TWR, a "next generation digital tower solution", according to Altitude Angel, is in use at airports in Germany, Sweden, the UK and US. The addition of Altitude Angel's GuardianUTM would allow the digital authorisation and management of crewed and uncrewed flights, according to a joint statement by two companies.

The deal will allow the partners to "seamlessly fuse cutting-edge ATM and UTM technologies in one innovative offering reducing time, effort, and complexity", according to Richard Ellis, chief business officer at Altitude Angel.

Per Ahl, chief executive of Saab Digital Air Traffic Solutions, said the tie-up would allow the company give customers "the greatest and most accurate picture of the sky they manage".
