Ryanair hails 6 million passengers and two decades Newcastle operational launch

Ryanair recently celebrated 6 million passengers and 20 years of successful operations at Newcastle International Airport. Since 2003, Ryanair has established its presence as a low-cost airline at Newcastle Airport contributing to the growth of the airport and local economy.

Ryanair established its base at Newcastle airport in 2003 by deploying two aircraft, since then the airline’s presence has grown to 1.1 million passengers annually on the fleet of two aircraft based at the airport.

Ryanair has also set up an extensive schedule to cater to raising travel demand, with a total of 130+ weekly flights covering 20 routes. Apart from popular destinations like Barcelona, Palma, and Zadar the airline has added some latest destinations are Barcelona and Shannon.

The airline’s summer schedule demonstrates a 7% growth compared to the previous year, reflecting Ryanair’s commitment to meeting the evolving travel demands of the region.

Delighted at achieving this important milestone, Jade Kirwan, Head of Communicatons, Ryanair said: “We have brought forth extensive selection of sunny hotspots and vibrant European city break destinations, highlighting Barcelona, Milan, Chania, Gdansk, Riga, Shannon, Wroclaw, and Zadar as exclusive routes to and from Newcastle Airport. Ryanair is dedicated to support local job creation, promoting regional development, and enhancing connectivity with Europe.”
