Investigators have suggested human error could be to blame for the plane crash in Russia on Sunday which killed two passengers.
Engine failure caused the Dagestan Airlines Tupolev-154 aircraft bound for Makhachkala to roll off the runway at Domodedovo airport on Saturday and break into three pieces. Two passengers were killed and 80 were injured.
The black box recorder has confirmed three engines failed but did not give more detail. The Russian Aviation Agency also said that the aircrafts generators and navigation system failed and that the pilot was landing in bad weather.
Russian media have suggested that the crew decided to take off despite two defects on the plane or that the crew forgot to switch on fuel pumps while taking off, allowing air to enter the system. A criminal investigation into the accident has been opened.
The Tupolev-154 aircraft dated from 1992 but was refitted in 2009, however a Russian news agency claimed the airline's fleet were in bad shape. A Tupolev-154 crashed in April Killing Polish president Lech Kaczynski and 95 others.
