Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the flag carrier of Morocco has ramped its capacity from Moroccan cities to Jeddah and Medina route in Saudi Arabia leading up to Hajj season which starts from June 2 till June 22, 2023.
The airline will offer a total of 61,000 seats on 100 flights from several Moroccan cities to Jeddah and Medina. RAM said that the additional flights will be operated by the carrier's fleet and two other aircraft with an average capacity of 350 seats.
The airline is also set to schedule 28,000 seats on its aircraft and another plane with a capacity of 436 seats for its Ramadan Umrah operation, which will run from March 18 to May 4.
Royal Air Maroc has scheduled flights for pilgrims from Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, Rabat, Tangier, Oujda, Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir to Jeddah Abdulaziz International Airport and Medina.
Egyptair will transport about 3,200 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the Islamic religious pilgrimage. According to Egyptian media, the first flights would take off on March 17 from Casablanca, Tangier, and Fez airports, transit through Egypt, and land in Jeddah and Medina.
Egyptair has collaborated with Moroccan travel and tourism organizations to plan 11 flights on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner with a capacity of 309 seats. Egyptair is also operating flights on an Airbus A330-200 with a capacity of 268 passengers, which would take off from Morocco and pass through Cairo International Airport before reaching Saudi Arabia.
