AirVault has announced that Ronald Utecht, the former Senior Vice President of Maintenance & Engineering for United Airlines, and Chairman, President, and co-CEO of TIMCO, is joining the AirVault Advisory Board. He will advise the company on the airline and MRO sectors and on improving the use of maintenance data in all aviation sectors.
Utecht spent 35 years of his professional career at United Airlines supervising and directing maintenance and engineering activities, culminating in his service as the Senior Vice President of Maintenance and Engineering where he managed an annual budget of over $2 billion and supervised over 16,000 employees. For 15 years, he served as the aircraft recovery team leader. This activity included hands-on recovery and accident investigation. While at United, Utecht applied his expertise in maintenance roles at the U.S. Navy and at the NASA Kennedy Space Center. Upon retiring from United Airlines in 2003, Utecht became President and COO at TIMCO. In 2011, he retired from TIMCO as CEO, President, and COO. He remains a senior advisor to TIMCO today. Additionally, during his career, Utecht has been honoured with several MRO industry awards, including the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award, an award from the Engineering Maintenance and Material Council of the Air Transport Association, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from MRO Overhaul Americas, 2011.
