Saudi Arabia's new international airline Riyadh Air has selected satellite communications company Viasat to provide connectivity onboard its initial incoming 787 Dreamliner fleet.
The solution will be factory-installed on its deliveries. In addition, the airline said it will use the solution to provide full, fast, free in-flight connectivity for its loyalty members. Non-loyalty members can sign up onboard the aircraft and get access instantly.
“Partnering with Viasat, we were empowered to realise our discerning vision for guests' connectivity,” said Riyadh Air VP guest experience Anton Vidgen. “In turn, our guests will enjoy free, personalised, and seamless Wi-Fi that will fully integrate with the full Riyadh Air experience.”
The airline said the partnership will be a “key enabler” of its digitally native strategy.
Viasat Commercial Services chief commercial officer Meherwan Polad commented: “Viasat's unique ability to deliver the consistent, high-quality connectivity that Riyadh Air's guests demand will be transformative for the Middle Eastern commercial air travel landscape.”
