Rex signs new Enterprise Agreements with engineers and flight attendants

Rex, Australia’s regional carrier, has signed new industrial agreements with the airline’s domestic flight attendants and engineers after almost 18 months of negotiations. The new Enterprise Agreements (EAs) were overwhelmingly endorsed by both sections of the airline’s workforce. In separate ballots held over the last two weeks, 75 percent of flight attendants and 92 percent of engineers voted in favour of the new EAs.

Rex Executive Chairman, Lim Kim Hai, said: “The board is delighted with the strong endorsement and support from the staff groups which is reflected in the way we are not experiencing the extreme chaos the other major carriers are facing. We are at the final stages with other Enterprise Agreements and we are planning to put these out to a vote soon.”

The EAs will be applicable for three and four years respectively which includes a salary hike for both the flight attendants and the engineers.

A Rex official said the airline plans to add more 737s within months, giving it enough aircraft for a nationwide network of intercity routes.

Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline operating a fleet of 61 Saab 340 and seven Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to 58 destinations throughout all states in Australia.
