Rex launches new Melbourne-Hobart route

Rex has added new daily flights between Melbourne and Hobart starting from August 17.

Hobart will be Rex’s fourth Tasmanian destination as it already regularly flies to Burnie, Devonport and King Island. Apart from the new route, Rex has also added two more Boeing 737s to its domestic operations.

This new route allows passengers seamless connections to Rex flights from Melbourne to Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide and other regional destinations.

Rex is expanding its domestic capacity by adding more aircraft and plans to have a fleet of nine B737s by the end of next month.

Delighted to add Hobert to the network John Sharp, deputy chairman, Rex said: "Our long-standing commitment to Tasmania spans more than 40 years through our regional airline services. For too long, Hobart has had to endure sky-high airfares because of capacity constraints and price gouging by our competitors. Our new service will provide passengers with affordable fares delivered with Rex's trademark country hospitality and reliability.
