Republic and IBT meet to discuss new pilot contract

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and Republic Airways will meet with the National Mediation Board (NMB) tomorrow for the second time this week to discuss a new pilot contract.

The IBT presented mediators at the first NMB session with its counterproposal to the airline’s last-best-and-final offer from August. Republic has stated that it will not negotiate from its final offer. However, the IBT has given the NMB an estimate as to the cost of its proposal. The mediators then presented that offer to the company, and the two sides discussed it with mediators present, the union told pilots. As the airline is refusing to back down, and the IBT is refusing to permit pilots to vote on the offer, a deadlock is predicted.
