Low-cost carrier SpiceJet has reported a record loss of Rs 5.59bn in the three months to September compared with a net loss of Rs1.64 billion in the same period last year. Shares in the airline fell 6.3% on the news. The losses were attributed to high fuel prices and a weaker rupee during the reporting period.
AirAsia Group results show a 27% uplift in passengers in Q3
AirAsia Group airlines carried 27% more passengers during the third quarter of 2013, with 10.6m passengers, however the overall load factor was down 2 percentage points to 76%.
Malaysia AirAsia passenger numbers rose 11% to 5.3 million during the period, with a stable load factor of 77%.
Thai AirAsia carried 2.6 million passengers, representing growth of 30% compared to the year-ago period, with a 1% uptick in load factor to 83%.This was on the back of a 27% increase in capacity.
Indonesia AirAsia made 41% more seats available leading to a 36% rise in passengers carried to 2.1million. Load factor dropped three percentage points however to 75%.
Philippines AirAsia (includes Zest) carried 730,005 passengers with a load factor of 59%.
