Latvia's airBaltic reported what it said was its best first quarter, with revenue topping €105 million, up 75% year-on-year.
The flag carrier reported a loss of €11.4 million, beating the pre-Covid Q1 2019, and a three-fold reduction measured year-on-year.
Passenger traffic was up 77% to 770,000, with the load factor increasing 8.5 percentage points to 71% as the number of flights climbed to over 11,000, a 47% increase.
The first quarter of 2023 has surpassed our expectations, driving airBaltic towards strong commercial performance and sustained profitability," said Martin Gauss, the airline's president.
"Our clear target and ambition are to achieve €700 million in revenue and witness a substantial increase in carried passengers, reaching 4.4 million by the end of 2023," added Gauss, who is also chief executive.
