British energy business Zero Petroleum is in discussions with an unnamed Irish company to establish a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in Ireland.
Andrew Turner, who advises Zero Petroleum, told the Irish newspaper the Business Post that the country could be "the Qatar of Europe" for SAF production due to its renewable energy potential, which he said was down to "a surfeit of green energy, wind, that you join to vast amounts of water".
Zero, which in 2022 signed a deal with the UK's Royal Air Force (RAF) for SAF production and holds the world record for powering the first flight from 100% synthetic fuel, is seeking to produce SAF in a number of locations, according to Turner, who mentioned Japan, Singapore and the UK
