Qatar Airways is planning to hire 10,000 employees to handle the passenger traffic in Doha during the FIFA World Cup in November 2022.
According to Reuters, the airline has started a recruitment drive to increase the employee strength to 55,000 from the current 45,000. The recruitment drives were held in the Philippines, India, and other countries towards September end, as per the airline.
“Qatar Airways is on a growth trajectory following COVID and with World Cup preparations in full swing it is ramping up recruitment across the airline,” the airline said in a statement.
Qatar has scaled down its operations during the peak of the pandemic in 2021 to 33 cities and cut staff levels to below 37,000. With the re-opening of borders Qatar now operates to over 150 destinations.
Akbar al-Baker, CEO of, Qatar said: “It will be a huge challenge to be able to manage this very fast-moving demand for very large numbers of spectators.”
Qatar Airways will be adjusting almost 70% of its schedule for additional flights.
