Qatar Airways Cargo has been named as the launch operator of Mammoth Freighters' 777-200LRMF freighter on May 1, 2025.
“This additional freighter capacity will be instrumental in advancing our fleet growth and expanding the premium cargo services we provide to customers worldwide,” said Qatar Airways Cargo chief officer cargo Mark Drusch. “The growth of our fleet with the Mammoth 777s reflects our commitment to operating the largest freighter network and fleet in the industry.”
Additionally, Mammoth Freighters said on the same day it had successfully completed the initial flight test of the prototype freighter aircraft.
The prototype aircraft — registered as N705DN — completed the conversion process at Mammoth's modification partner facility Aspire MRO in Fort Worth, Texas.
“This milestone is the culmination of years of dedicated engineering, collaboration, and innovation," said Mammoth CEO Bill Tarpley. "Our mission is to deliver one of the world’s most productive and economical long-range freighters, and today’s achievement is a testament to the hard work and expertise of our entire team and partners.”
Qatar Airways Cargo had finalised an agreement for five 777-200LRMFs with Jetran — a Texas-based aircraft leasing company.
“The aircraft exceeded expectations and reinforced our confidence in Mammoth’s engineering and conversion capabilities," said Jetran CEO Jordan Jaffe. "We are proud to have Qatar Airways Cargo play such a prominent role as launch customer for this ground-breaking program and look forward to its certification and entry into service.”
Currently, Mammoth has seven 777-200/-300 aircraft undergoing conversion and holds 35 firm orders for freighter conversions across a range of customers.
