QantasLink first two A220 begin service
Qantas' regional subsidiary QantasLink has begun its first A220 commercial operations on March 1, 2024 with its two new A220 aircraft. The airline will take delivery of a further 27 A220 aircraft, which will gradually replace its 717 fleet as part of Qantas' domestic fleet renewal program. ""These next-generation aircraft are going to make a real difference for customers travelling across our network so it’s great to see it launch commercial flights from today,"" said QantasLink CEO Rachel Yangoyan. The inaugural flights flew from Melbourne to Canberra and Brisbane. Yangoyan added: ""We saw a spike in bookings on these routes when we identified them as the first A220 flights last week. It was a great response from many customers who clearly wanted to be among the first to experience our new A220."" The third A220 is due to be delivered in June and four A220 aircraft is scheduled for mid-2025.
