Qantas is planning to expand the fleet of its regional carrier QantasLink and recently acquired charter unit Network Aviation by 14 aircraft over the next 12 months. The new aircraft could be A320 or 737s if the demand is there to serve the needs of resources companies.
The new planes will bring the combined fleet to 80 aircraft.
Qantas passengers injured during severe turbulence
Seven passengers on board a Qantas Airways A380s on route to Singapore from London have been treated for cuts and bruises after hitting severe turbulence caused by thunderstorms in the Indian airspace.
"(The aircraft) diverted around most of it, but it was the initial part of the storm that had the impact," a spokesperson said. "The seat belt sign had come on, but some passengers were still moving back to their seats."
Seven passengers suffered minor cuts and bruises. Four were treated at a hospital in Singapore and the others at Changi Airport's medical centre. All have been discharged.
