Qantas Airways and Jetstar Contract Boeing 787 Fleet Component Support to AFI KLM E&M

Qantas Airways in association with Jetstar have entered into a long-term Component Pooling Services Agreement with AFI KLM E&M to support their fleet of Boeing 787s. This brings the total number of 787 customer airlines contracted by AFI KLM E&M to fifteen. The contract covers pool access and repairs and applies to a total fleet of eight 787-9s to be operated by Qantas, and the eleven 787-8s in service with Jetstar.

To guarantee maximum availability for the supported fleets, Qantas Airways and Jetstar will benefit from direct access to the AFI KLM E&M spares pool stationed at Kuala Lumpur and will be able to rely on its worldwide network of inventories and component repair shops, including AFI KLM E&M main facilities in Paris and Amsterdam.

Chris Nassenstein, Qantas Airways Executive Manager Engineering, said: "We are pleased to award AFI KLM E&M the 787 Component Pooling Contract. As a long-term supplier with a proven track record in supporting our A330 and A380 fleets we look forward to increasing our successful business relationship which is key to the On-Time Performance and operational efficiency of our fleets."

For his part, Ton Dortmans, EVP KLM Engineering & Maintenance, said: "By jointly providing 787 component support for Qantas and Jetstar, we have once again demonstrated our ability to adapt our services to all airline business models."
