Finnair has posted a loss of €19.8 million during the second quarter although this is an improvement on the €23 million reported in the same period last year. Revenue rose by 10.2% to €594.4 million due to increased capacity and growing passenger traffic. The airline carried 2.3 million passengers 10.6% more than during the quarter than the same period last year. The airline had an operating income of €14.7 million. The airline was hit by a 19.9% increase in fuel costs, which now accounts for 27% of overall expenses.
As part of its restructuring efforts, Finnair is on target to save €140 million by 2014. The airline will save €70 million in 2012.
