P&W opens expanded Singapore engine MRO facility

RTX subsidiary Pratt & Whitney has announced the opening of its extended Singapore-based engine centre, Eagle Services Asia (ESA). The additional 48,000 square feet offered by the new MRO space will grow the centre’s GTF capacity by two-thirds this year, estimates P&W, which has also integrated ‘transformative technology’ across both ESA sites. These include robotics, automation and machine learning, with fully automated high-pressure compressor rotor stacking and a Receive-in-Check Cobot to augment the work performed by human inspectors. “This expansion demonstrates our commitment to building industrial capacity,” said Shang Meleschi, vice president of aftermarket operations – Asia Pacific and Turkiye at P&W. “We are bringing together talent from our engine centre, technologies from the Singapore Technology Accelerator and innovative practices from across Pratt & Whitney to improve MRO performance for our GTF fleet”. P&W currently has 15 active GTF MRO engine centres in operation around the world, and expects this number to rise to 19 by 2025.
