Global air cargo tonnages have recovered more quickly than 2022 following the annual American Thanksgiving holiday, weekly analysis from World ACD Market Data suggests, with rates ex-Asia Pacific continuing to show a strong rise.
Preliminary figures for week 48 indicate a 2% increase in tonnages and a 1% increase in average global rates compared to the previous week, with demand already recovered from the seasonal post-Thanksgiving dip. Worldwide average rates are currently -19% below their levels this time last year, at an average of US$2.60 per kilo in week 48, although they remain significantly above pre-pandemic levels (up 43% compared to November 2019).
