The UK airline industry is cautiously preparing for a resurgence in air travel as the UK Government continues to make positive noises about removing quarantine restrictions for double vaccinated travellers from amber list countries. The UK has already added many more countries to its green list and there are signs that those countries too are lifting restrictions on vaccinated travellers from the UK. It is still complicated working out exactly what restrictions and paperwork is needed to travel but for the staycation-weary Brits, a foreign summer holiday is in high demand. UK airline shares are showing cautious upwards motion, which will surely accelerate once the expected double vaccinated announcement is made later this week. But what will really cause a major rebound will be the reopening of the transatlantic routes and the resurgence in travel between the UK and the US. The USA remains on the UK amber list, while the UK is still closed to travel to the US. The airlines have redoubled their efforts in lobbying their respective governments to agree a travel corridor and there are positive signs that this will come, whether this will be in time to recoup some summer traffic is less certain, however.
