Porter Airlines is introducing a new senior leadership structure to help support its ‘ongoing development into a carrier with greater presence across North America’.
The Canadian carrier will now separate the roles of president and CEO, with Michael Deluce continuing to hold the latter. Kevin Jackson, current executive vice president and chief commercial officer, will now assume the role of president.
“What people are seeing from the outside is Porter is quickly growing with many aircraft deliveries, the introduction of new routes and a level of service that is disrupting what travellers think is possible when flying in economy,” said Jackson, who has worked with the airline for the last 11 years. He added that the internal implementation of “a number of strategic initiatives” will ensure Porter can continue to “compete aggressively in the marketplace”.
Deluce said that Porter’s evolution “starts with [him] recongizing that [his] energy is currently best used on initiatives that often have longer timelines,” and that he will remain closely involved with Porter’s overall strategic direction while Jackson oversees daily business matters and operations.
Porter’s fleet has doubled over the last year to 58 aircraft, currently equally split between the Dash 8-400 and the E195-E2.
