Pobeda reacts to withdrawal of planes

Aeroflot low-cost subsidiary Pobeda has commented that it will act to protect its fleet from lease termination orders.

"We will protect the fleet within the legal framework," said legal chief Alexei Tankevich, according to the Russian state news agency Tass.

Eu sanctions require all European leasing companies to terminate their contracts with Russian airlines by March 28.

"We have received several notifications from our lessors regarding the return of aircraft," Tankevich confirmed. However, it is currently not possible to give any details on how to protect yourself, according to the Pobeda manager. "Not everything, but a lot depends on the behavior of the aircraft owners."

According to Tass, Avolon has already reclaimed three Boeing 737-800s. Pobeda's fleet consists of 44 leased Boeing 737-800.
