Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the acquisition of five Boeing-777 aircraft by Pakistan International Airlines. He has also agreed a strategy to settle PIA legacy loans that will empower the board of directors to run the airline on a professional basis.
“PIA is now neither efficient nor profitable,” he said. The airline posts losses of Rs183 billion annually.
