A Boeing 737-8 aircraft that was set to go to Bonza will now be heading to Flair Airlines. The 737-8 aircraft was supposed to Bonza’s fifth aircraft and was set to be a spare, but the aircraft will now be delivered to Flair Airlines.
The Canadian airline is currently facing a shortage as Airborne Capital recently repossessed four aircraft from the airline after the it failed to pay its lease and incurred debts over a period of time.
Meanwhile, Bonza said that the non-delivery won’t impact its operations as the airline plans to launch the Melbourne Tullamarine - Rockhampton and Paraparaumu - Sunshine Coast routes this week.
"It’s not uncommon for this to happen as part of fleet planning,” Bonza clarified. The airline expects to have eight aircraft supplied by 777 Partners in the first year of its launch.
Both Bonza and Flair Airlines are owned by private equity entity 777 Partners.
