One Air adds second 747-400 freighter to its fleet

British all-cargo airline One Air has taken delivery of its second 747-400 freighter, acquired on a long-term lease, which will augment the airline’s current flying programme offering full charter services connecting Hong Kong and London Heathrow.

The new freighter, a former Air Canada passenger aircraft subsequently converted into a freighter for Air China, is expected to offer some further ad hoc capacity for One Air’s global charter services in addition to its regular operations.

One Air commenced flight operations in July, with chairman and CEO Paul Bennett explaining: “We have enjoyed a positive start to commercial operations and strong interest from the international cargo market, which reinforces our view of the long-term potential for a British all-cargo airline”.

The only UK operator of the 747 freighter, One Air hopes to add a third aircraft in the first quarter of 2024, with Bennett noting: “We already have sufficient demand for a third aircraft, so our growth strategy at this stage is very much on track”.
