Oman Air took the delivery of five new 737 MAX 8 aircraft in a sale and leaseback deal from CDB Aviation. The latest 737 MAX aircraft to join the Oman Air fleet took a ferry flight from Seattle via Glasgow, Scotland, to Muscat in Oman

AbdulAziz Al Raisi, CEO, Oman Air, said: "As air travel demand continues to grow post-pandemic, Oman Air has the opportunity to expand progressively. The latest addition to our fleet will serve both domestic and short-to-medium international sectors, further extending our seamless connectivity to a growing number of destinations."

The airline has been introducing new routes throughout the Middle East and India and several cities in Europe, South Asia and Africa. Last month Oman Air unveiled its 2023 summer schedule, which added four destinations and significantly increased frequencies on other routes. This expansion will add around 60,000 more seats weekly across its network and is a 60% increase in flights from Muscat compared to 2021.

Paul Boyle, EMEA Head, CDB aviation said: “We are pleased to build its relationship with Oman Air and expand its presence in Middle East. These new technology, fuel-efficient aircraft will support the airline's ongoing recovery efforts, providing its passengers with greater connectivity and a wider choice of destinations from its hub in Muscat."

The airline has introduced four new destinations as a part of the summer schedule, Chittagong in Bangladesh, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram in India and the Maldives, all from Muscat. Extra frequencies have been added to Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, Moscow, Paris and in Turkey to Istanbul and Trabzon. To the Indian sub-continent, the airline added additional capacity to Mumbai, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Dhaka and Kozhikode, along with domestic frequency from Muscat to Salalah.
