Flight disruptions at 11 northern UK airports should be a thing of the past after striking workers voted to accept wage increases of up to 7%.
A "long-running pay dispute involving 120 Unite members across the Highlands and Islands Airport Limited (HIAL) Group" ended on March 21, the Unite trade union said.
The dispute saw several days' of airport closures across the HIAL network during March.
"Unite’s members are to be congratulated for leading the fight to secure better jobs, pay and conditions across the Highlands and Islands,” aid Sharon Graham, Unite's secretary general.
Airport workers represented by the Prospect trade union also endorsed the pay offer, with the PCS union to
"We are sorry that the industrial action and route suspensions have caused considerable disruption for passengers and our customers, particularly for those on our island communities who rely on our airports to support essential and lifeline services," said HIAL managing director Inglis Lyon.
HIAL is a private company but owned by the Scottish regional government in Edinburgh, It operates airports at Barra, Benbecula, Campbeltown, Dundee, Inverness, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Sumburgh, Tiree and Wick.
