JetBlue Airways preliminary traffic results for September 2010 are up 14.6% over a year ago, with a capacity increase of 10.4%. Load factor for September 2010 was 80.6%, an increase of three points from September 2009. JetBlue's preliminary completion factor was 98.8% and its on-time performance was 78.7%. JetBlue's preliminary passenger revenue per available seat mile for the month of September increased 10% year over year.
SkyWest traffic also posts good stats for September with a 11% rise in traffic number and capacity also up sharply. Passenger-carrying capacity rose 10.5% to 1.99 billion available seat miles.
SkyWest Airlines operates flights under the United Express and Delta Connection banners and also makes flights for AirTran Airways. Atlantic Southeast flies Delta Connection and United Express flights.
Latin American airline, LAN Airlines’ passenger traffic rose 14.4% as capacity rose 13.0%. The airline’s monthly load factor increased 1.0 point to 79.8%. International passenger traffic accounted for approximately 72% of total passenger traffic.
In Latin America in September, Lan’s cargo traffic also increased. Cargo traffic was up by 20.4% thanks to the recovery in imports to Latin America driven by Brazil and the increase in operations to Europe with the B777 freighter fleet.
In June 2010 LAN Cargo launched domestic cargo operations in Brazil to Recife and Fortaleza through its affiliate ABSA. In-line with higher demand, capacity grew 20.5%. As a result, the cargo load factor dropped 0.1 point to 69.7%.
