Nordic Aviation Group (NAG) has for the first time created a 50-50 male-female split in its management team with the appointment of Inese Sitko-Bulle.
The group, which runs airlines Xfly and Nordica, the Latvian flag carrier, said it aims to add 250 staff to its 650 headcount, including "more women working as pilots".
“Aviation is traditionally a very male-dominated business and we are happy to see it changing with more women interested in entering and developing within our very technical, complex and exciting business,” said NAG chief executive Jan Palmer.
“Women in leadership make balanced decisions and bring benefit to the bottom line as research shows," said Thomas Uibo, NAG's marketing chief, who hailed the addition of Sitko-Bulle to the management team, saying it would help keep the group "on track" to reach its performance indicators.
